Christmas is coming

The Goose is getting fat, Please put a penny in the old man's hat,
If you haven't got a penny a halfpenny will do,If you haven't got a halfpenny, God bless you.

OR as my friend Moira says "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" see her blog here

As usual the festive season is almost here without me being organised, I say every year, just after Christmas that I will be organised next time but of course I have to go through the doom and gloom of the onset to winter which I hate but then I seem to come out of the mist and start to get excited and focused, I must say that I have bought the beef for Christmas dinner (I nearly fainted at the price) but it is a lovely piece from the English butchers in Gorron, you can find them here   they are a traditional butchers and they have some well hung meat also lots of goodies like homemade sausages, Scotch eggs, which John loves (I can't eat eggs)  proper gammon steaks and homemade pork pies to mention just a few,
I have also posted my Christmas cards to all 4 corners of the world although I believe there will be a postal strike in UK so hopefully they will reach their destination on time.
yesterday we put up our Christmas tree and other bits

and for the first time I actually enjoyed doing it, maybe it was the fact that we had Christmas carols playing while we did it that cheered it all up but of course once you sing these songs they stay in your head, now I can't stop singing them, dear John just looks at me when I burst into song and says "you are a happy little bunny"

How are your preparations going?

  1. Well!! We put lights on the palm trees. Lol. 70 degrees today but rainy. Not feeling like Christmas. Once again procrastinating on Christmas cards and will probably not get them done. Sorry everyone. We love y'all though. Can't wait to have a new bathroom for Christmas anything else will be a bonus. Looking forward to the New Year. When we get to see more of our kids.
    Love and miss you
    Jan, Steve and Emaculada
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

  2. That is so sweet! We always play the favorite Christmas songs while we decorate. Andy Williams is my favorite. I was in love with him when I was about 6.

  4. TOF thanks for your comment, I used to love Andy Williams too, these are the memories of Christmas past and thank goodness we have them.

Christmas decoslook lovely, keep smiling my friend xx

  6. Roz, Your house does look very festive. Glad you are singing Christmas Carols as you go along. Things are a little topsy turvy here because we've had big events in addition to Christmas. My son graduated from college and we had a party. And today, I fly down to Florida to celebrate my father's 80th birthday. I think I have most of Christmas under control. No cards yet. And the tree is only partially decorated. Maybe I'll get it decorated before I leave. Merry Christmas.

  7. Moira we loved our trip to Gorron and lunch in the cafe Gourmand then on to a Christmas market in Ceosme Vaucé which was very small but enjoyablem the snowman on the fire comes off if we light it although he did roast his chestnuts a little once

  8. Paulita congrats for your son on his graduation, hope he enjoyed the party and big congrats to your Dad on his 80th it must be that Florida sun that is good for him
